A Bit About us

We are Chris, Thuong and Henry — and Bun Cha, our 5-year-old dingo

Five years ago, we chose to move to Hoi An to slow down and step away from busy city life.

Four years ago, we bought this house.

After settling in, we realized it was more space than our little family needed, so we gently transformed one floor into a private apartment — a way to share our simple Hoi An lifestyle, build genuine friendships, and exchange stories with people from around the world.

Thuong teaches yoga online and leads intimate retreats. She has a deep passion for traditional medicine and is currently working toward her acupuncture certification. She also offers private yoga sessions upon request, and loves sharing her cooking.

Chris runs a company that organizes short courses for young people, bringing diverse communities together to learn, connect, and grow. At home, he brings warmth to the mornings with homemade sourdough bread and waffles, and enjoys offering private chess lessons to anyone curious to learn.

How to get to our home

From Da Nang airport

It will take about 40 minutes to drive from Da Nang airport to our home. You can get a taxi or a Grab car (Grab is a mobile app similar to Uber for SE Asia).

The road to our house is narrow but you absolutely can drive straight to our door. Some drivers may hesitate to drive-in, unsure whether they will be able to back out. In the worst case, you can walk about 100 meters.

Transportation Service

We can help you arrange a pick up from Da Nang Airport:

300k VND/12 USD for a 4 seat car

400k VND/16USD for a 7 seat car

About Hoi An

Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The city can be divided into four sections: The Old Town, the rice fields, the beaches and the villages around Hoi An (Tra Que herb garden, Cam Kim island, etc.)

Local specialty food items include: Banh Mi, Cao Lau, Mi Quang, Banh Xeo, Com Ga, and Goi Cuon...

Hoi An is well-known for textiles and tailoring. Thuong can help you to find the right place.

If you're looking for gift ideas to bring back home, a few ideas include: Vietnamese chocolate, coffee, Hoi An lanterns, local chili sauce, coconut rice crackers, custom leather goods

Some of our favorite coffee shops are: Hit Ha near Tan Thanh beach, Slow Cafe in Tra Que, Nghe Coffee for rice field views, Chillax (right next to our house, perfect for small children), Lo Gach Cu (about 30m away from Hoian - perfect for a scooter ride)
